Q & A

Why camp skylemar?

As you know, Skylemar’s an important part of our world! Not only are we here every summer, but it’s also where we met as staff members years ago.

For those of you who have been to Skylemar, we’re excited to welcome you home!

For first timers, we look forward to introducing you to a special place.

When exactly is the wedding?

With our family and friends mostly coming from far away, we picked Labor Day weekend so there’d be an extra day for traveling.

The celebration kicks off Saturday afternoon with a Welcome Barbecue at the Ring of Champions. In between Sunday breakfast and a grab n’ go lunch, there will be plenty to do on Trickey Pond, the fields and courts.

Sunday evening is the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner…and then it’s PARTY TIME!

The band will blow you away. We know this for sure, because it’s the same awesome group from Sarah & Nick’s wedding – you’ll love them!

How do we get there?

Portland Airport (PWM) is a 50 minute drive. Logan Airport (BOS) is 2.5 hours.

Best plan is to rent a car (book it now – it’s a holiday weekend) and drive to camp.

You can Uber from the airport to Naples, but there are usually none available for the return.

Where do we stay?

You’re welcome to stay in a nearby hotel or Airbnb, but it’s a summer camp wedding! We highly recommend the Skylemar bunk experience! It’s free, it’s a bed and then there’s no need to drive. All bunks have bathrooms; some have showers, and the rest have a nearby shower house.

If you would like a “bunk assignment”, please email luci@skylemar.com ASAP, and definitely no later than July 1. It’s helpful to mention who you might like to have in your cabin, and we’ll try our best. Priorities for housing is your age (the oldest get the best) and how soon you get your request in.

What’s included?

Once you get to Skylemar, everything’s included. Meals, snacks, booze, bunks, bedding, towels – pretty much all you need but yourself and some clothes.

What’s the dress code?

Cocktail attire for the wedding on Sunday. Ladies should sparkle in a favorite dress or slacks. Keep the outdoor venue in mind with shoes – go with block/wedge heels or flats, and kick them off for dancing. Guys should wear shirt and tie, with no jacket required. Fine to lose the tie when the band starts playing.

Sporty casual is the code for the rest of the weekend. Step it up a notch for the Welcome Party, but during the day it’s shorts, tshirts, sweats, bathing suit and sneakers. Maybe bring some extra layers in case it gets cold, and a raincoat just in case.

Dogs and kids?

We adore kids and love dogs, but please stick to the names on your invitation. Thanks for understanding!

Any rules we should know?

This weekend’s all about love, so we’re counting on you to go with the flow and care about others. Beyond that, no swimming without a lifeguard, smoking/vaping in the designated areas only, and please don’t drive unless you haven’t had a drink.

What’s the vibe?

It’s all about people-powered fun at Camp Skylemar! Put away your cell phone and enjoy being with others. Get ready to reunite with old friends and make new ones that will last a lifetime!

In true Skylemar-style, we’re counting on everyone to look out for each other and help to make things happen.

Speaking of help, do you need any?

Absolutely. This is an “all hands-on-deck” kind of event. In fact, some of our closest friends will be in the kitchen all day.

We’ll need help with food prep, arranging flowers, setting up, serving, lifeguarding, golf cart driving…the list goes on and on. Please email luci@skylemar.com if there’s something you’re especially interested in helping with, or else we’ll just take our best guess.

Gifts?

We feel blessed and fortunate to have you at our wedding. This wonderful collection of people gathering in our honor is the greatest gift we could ever receive.

For those inclined to also give a monetary gift, please know how grateful we are. It’s a tremendous help, as we do our best to save for a permanent home. Although we have most items for a household, we’ve made a short registry.

Unique situations?

We all have them! If you’re on a special diet, have a severe allergy, need help with mobility or anything else you can think of, please just let us know. We want everyone to feel comfortable, and will do our best to make sure you have whatever you need. Only thing we can’t promise is how comfortable the bed will be. After all, it’s still camp.
